The late great Rashidi Yekini scoring NIgeria’s first ever World Cup goal in 1994 and his iconic goal celebration thanking his God in the net. A beautiful moment. I remember celebrating it with a friend at 2 in the morning at my old flat in London. Yekini was of the old school, a lump of a striker who a powerful shot but who would surprise you with sublime moments of skill. He’ll be missed. His case was particularly sad as he seemed to have died poor with a mental disease. He was almost certainly not the 48 years his official age probably stated but he was way too young nonetheless. RIP bros.
